Saltiegal's audition for Ishtar. Enjoy! With every story, there has to be a villain. The one everybody loves to hate and the one everyone loves seeing defeated. Not now. Ishtar would be the one conquering good, and then what? Then his idiot brother would fall...Maybe even to his death. The thought pleased him as he ambled through the forest. The wilderness he was traveling was dead. Huge oaks surrounded him on every side. Their roots were sticking out of the ground, making it hard to think while walking. One could easily trip and fall on one of those deadly things. The warm summer wind distracted him from his violent thoughts. It brought his attention up to the clear, horrid black sky where a pure white moon hung low in the sky. It was from this dim light he was traveling. Suddenly, the dead oaks stopped, and before him stood a valley. It was odd; the brute didn’t know he was on high elevation. He carefully stepped over to the edge, where the ground wouldn’t give way. Before him, lit by the moonlight, were bodies of other equines. Their still bodies told Ishtar that they were dead and had been dead. But how? His harks flew up and he slowly made his way down the sloping hill. When he finally made his way down, he saw gruesome scenes that made his maw perk up with a smirk. Anything that had to do with pain, he enjoyed. He never really knew why, though. His father used to say he had a temper. Ishtar could believe that, but now his father was dead and his brother was next. He remembered this place. It was one of the numerous battle sites that had occurred when he and his brother were fighting. There must have been hundreds of bodies. Carefully examining most of them, he could tell that most were on the side of his brother. Fools. A small chuckle escaped him and he raised his dial to the moon, almost in thanks. Then he carefully walked around the area, looking a each body closely. Some had bled to death, while others were painlessly kicked in the head. Some had their legs broken first. Ishtar’s eyes lit up with excitement and anger. He would kill his brother next time he saw him. He would gather more fighters, force a few mares, and plot his next attack. He would move in, strike, then back off and strike again. He would allow no time for Sun Chaser to even think. Now the smirk was turning into an evil grin. Those pathetic lights wouldn’t stand a chance against his army. He would rule, and he would personally watch his brother fall. He started to laugh. The laugh, a low, rough growl, was particularly loud and evil. His orbs were cast around again, and saw that no one was near. He looked at the moon. The strong, eerie light was still glowing strongly, which only made him more happier. He laughed again and pushed himself into a trot. He had no time to lose, for he had a brother to kill. Still, he would have to fill in the details. As he climbed the hill in the opposite direction he had come, he took in a deep breath and exhaled. “You’re a dead horse, Sun Chaser. Your throat is mine.” He growled and pushed his body into a gallop, running through the woods. His pelt was gleaming in the moonlight, his harks pinned back. Snot was beginning to drip out of his nostrils. He was excited. He loved battles, and loved to fight. Sun Chaser would no longer have everything he wanted; maybe Ishtar would conveniently hide him in the bushes to hide his brother from embarrassment. Nah. Ishtar would make him die as painfully as possible. In fact, he could hear his idiot brother’s screams now. They would be so pained, so terrible, that Ishtar would want more. Oh, yes. He would want lots more. And then, when the fool was on the ground, pleading for mercy, Ishtar would be the nice big brother and kick him in the head He could heard the hollow thud now. The wind was howling now, only encouraging him to move faster. His ivories gleamed in the moonlight as he charged on. His teeth were bared in determination, for he knew his time was coming soon. It wouldn’t be long. Soon, he, Ishtar would be victorious and triumph over Sun Chaser. For once, the villain would be victorious.
