>> here we go again..
Herd Ranks
Alpha
The Alpha Male is considered "The King", and is considered the ultimate ruler. He takes one mate as his Queen, or Alpha Female, and their firstborn male is the heir to the throne. He may have as many mares as they wish to claim but they may only have one queen.
Resides at the Alpha's Clearing
Beta
Beta is a position commonly known as "Noble". Indeed, the Beta Male and Female are the nobles of the herd. Though the female has no real power, the male (her mate) is the second in command. Often, the Beta and Alpha female are good friends. The position of Beta Male is decided by the Alpha Male, and the Beta Female is simply the Male's mate. It is the Beta Female and Male's job to allot new stallions land. Beta's may have as many mares as they wish to claim but they may only have one queen.
The Beta is also a Moderator.
Gamma
The Gamma is alo like the Beta only not as high ranked. he may reside at the Respected Stream territory with his family. The Gamma's job is the greet new femmes, and make sure they are claimed. If not, then he will lead femmes to the appropriate place and post their information up at "Unclaimed". The Gamma may have as many mares as they wish to claim but they may only have one queen.
The Gamma is also a moderator.
Stallions
Stallions will NOT go to Ranking Lake to be claimed. Instead, they will go ask for a territory of their own in the Beta's lands. they may or may not have a territory granted to them. However if they do recieve a terra it will be a suboard in the Silent Forest. Wether a stallions gets a terra or not is up to the Beta. If the Beta is not present Sunchaser shall take over his role.
Stallions may own four mares.
Lesser Stallions
Lesser stallions are those claimed by another stallion, or those who have been kicked from their position as a stallion. (either by losing a fight or by angering the Alpha). They live with a stallion, and may not forcebreed the stallion's mares. However, lesser stallions may keep a mare of his own.
Only stallions with a home can claim mares. In other words if you do not live with another stallion you may not claim a mare.
Mares
Mares must go to Ranking Lake to be claimed by a Stallion. Simple? Not really. If no stallion comes within a week, then they are taken by the Gamma Or Alpha (if he has time which is unlikely) to reside in a forest of their own until claimed, or they may choose to become a rogue.
If they are claimed (a simple nip will do), then they will go with the stallion/lesser stallion that they now belong to.
If a mare is owned by a lesser stallion, they she may be force bred by the stallion the lesser stallion is owned by. Mares do not chose which stallion they go with. they must go with the first stallion to claim them. however if two stallions both want a mare they may either fight over her or one must give her up.
Foals
All foals are taken care of by mares until they are weaned at about age two. Then, fillies will go to ranking lake and wait to be claimed. Colts may either remain in his herd as a lesser stallion, become a rogue, claim a territory of his own, or go to ranking lake - that is his sire's choice. He may also fight another stallion (or his sire) for land.
Servants[/u][/i]
Servants are obtained by claiming at claiming lake. Only Alphas, Betas, and Gammas may have servants.
Guards
Guards are odd stallions indeed. Along with protecting their master(s), they may breed with broods anytime they wish simply for fun, to pass the time. Guards obey their masters only, and have no family. Another duty of a Guard is to relay messages. However if a guard asks the alpha of the herd for a mare of his own he may or may not be granted this.
Nursemares
These faes nurse and curb the important brethen, so the dams don't have to. They are treated well. Nursemares are often older equines kicked out of their old harem because they have grown old.
Broods
These faes are kept in the Silent forest unless bred with. while pregnat the mare may reside with teh stallion she was bred by if he wishes. A brood is available to all stallions of every rank for breeding purposes. They are femmes that have not been claimed. Broods may be claimed by any stallion. Once bred with, they may choose whether or not to have a foal. If they choose to do so, then they will reside as a nursemare with the Alpha, Beta, or Gamma (whomever they choose) until their foal is weaned (one week RL time).
Alliance[/u]
Council Stallions
There are five council stallions, who rule over the Alliance. They are handpicked by Ishtar.
Alliance Queens
The five alliance queens are the council stallions' mates. They often bully others around, simply because they can. Queens are claimed at Ranking Lake, though more often than not they are former council mares.
Council Mares
Council mares are the stallions' mares, though they are lesser than mates. These mares serve as servants to their queens, and are nursefaes to all brethen of their stallion, including their own.
Council Brethen
Council brethen are the offspring of two council members (Stallions, Mares, and Queens). They are considered higher up in the ranking than average brethen, and are taken care of by a nursefae.
Stallions
Stallions may claim land of their own. They may claim only one fae - their mate. They may also forcebreed unclaimed femmes anytime they wish. If the femme becomes inpregnated, then the foal will reside on the stallion's land.
If there's no land to claim, then a stallion will either become a slave, become a rogue, or fight for land.
Mares
If a mare's lucky, then she will become the mate of a stallion. If not, then she will become a normal ranking mare, and wander about the lands - being bred by stallions and producing offspring.
Foals
The rules for foals are similar to the Herd foals. There are three types - normal, slave, and noble. Nobles are the offspring of a Stallion with land and his mate. Normals are the offspring of a Stallion with land and another mare. Slaves are the offspring of a slave and a mare.
Once they reach 2 years of age, colts will either fight for land, become a slave, a rogue, or they may be given their sire's land (uncommon).
Fillies will become mares, rogues, or slaves.
Slaves
Slaves can be either gender, but serve the Council Members. They may be broods, guards, or simply beings for enjoyment.
Rogues[/u]
Rogues are wandering equines. They are extremely lonely, and cannot breed. However, they may forcebreed any that crosses their path.
