Odd how she managed to say so much, but not answer his question. Sun Chaser didn't mind a bit, for he already knew the answer. If she simply did not wish to tell him, he wouldn't push. The sky was already dark, and it was much too late to begin the long trek towards the top. It would be sunrise by the time he reached Alpha's Clearing anyway. So much for a "quick stop".
Sun Chaser was alwasys searching for the "bright side" of life. Call him ignorant, but perhaps that was the very nature of the Herd. He was simply attuning to how he had been brought up. How the equines around him acted. He was a little foolish, yes, but what was the bright side of this delay? Well, he had company. And rather enchanting company at that.
The stud shuffled a few paces towards the mountain, and paused, looking back.
"Well, it seems neither of us has a choice in the matter. Tonight is one night neither of us will bear alone."
He spoke with the tone of someone abrely hanging on to conciousness, for he was tired - almost enough to simply drop to sleep. However, it would be rude to simply begin snoring while in the midst of conversation..

.Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter. .When you come close to sellin' out reconsider.
And finally the comforting clasp that the night brought was heaved so upon the femora. The weight of the day and of her travels sunk into her very daggs and she felt as if to be drilled into the sod. She arched her boa a moment, looking for perhaps a place amidst the plain to slumber... but what of Sun Chaser? He had not left yet for home yet... perhaps it wasn't far from here. He hadn't said where his own abode lay, but the night was thick upon the land and lest it was close, would he dare to trek?
Turning soft visage, cooled by moonlight, Tatiana whisked close to Sun Chaser, peering curiously into his pools.
Where exactly do you live in these lands, Sun Chaser? she sang. The night has fallen to a gentle chill, even the crickets don't stir... I don't mean to be one to hold your from your home. If you wish to go, please go and take your rest. I'll be safe her til I am wanted again.
She felt a remorse then, striking that the reason Sun Chaser was unable to carry on with his walk was her. She had held him here til nightfall and while night was peaceful, it was also one of the more dangerous times as well. She felt her jaw clamp as she watched Sun Chaser peacefully. She was in truth when the prayed that she'd be safe, there twas no lie in her songs.
She sensed about Sun Chaser the weariness she too felt, and guilty still she was too for it. Had she not been carrying on with hermit crabs and her foolish tales, he would have been home before sunset... She took a breath then and let her harks float about her tiara, waiting for an answer, waiting for something to break the still silence that the night winds kept.
.Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance. .And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. .I hope you dance.

till I am wanted again? Sun Chaser simply couldn't comprehend these words, for he was quite a simpleton. However, he knew that Tatiana had not had a home in years, and it was only natural that she felt unwanted. However, he planned on doing nothing of the sort. Besides, his abode was quite a ways off, and he couldn't even if he wished.
"I assure you, you have done nothing of the kind. I reside high up on the mountain, and it is now far too late to be travelling."
He replied, deep vocals speaking in what was hopefully a reassuring, honest tone. But why shouldn't it be? Already, the air was surpressing, and it was becoming strangely dark. Then again, Sun Chaser's perch higher up on the mountain had always been closer to the heavens, and perhaps more brightly lighted.
The night was too dark for Sun Chaser to observe any more about this new femme, though her voice struck through the darkness as clearly as ever. Surely, their conversation could continue?
(Sorry it's so short, my muse has deserted me.. T-T)

.Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along.
Ah the darkness. Finally draping its long locks of shadow whimps over the land. Even the moon, though pale and loose as it was, was a frail in sight next to the shadow world that held the claiming yard. But Tatiana felt a panic wave not. She had learned from her own despite that in the darkness there was always a light, in the darkest of times, there is always hope. Silently, she stared in the direction of Sun Chaser, knowing this included him as well.
She had not seen this Ishtar, she had only heard of him now through Sun Chaser. She tried to imagine what he was like... to be a brute that would make even Sun Chaser cautious. An equine more attached to the dark side? Perhaps if he was seeking a revenge to the throne... for a light would not battle another light out of mere greed. Perhaps she was a strange fae, a daisy in a bed of roses, but she would have it no other way.
I'm still sorry for holding you so long here, Tatiana spilled. If I hadn't carried on so long you could have been home before sunset. But, yes, it is too late now for travel... perhaps even in the dim of night we both should rest somewhere. You'll need your strength tomorrow to return home at morning.
In her mind, she was aware of the situation, but she was still trying to get a visual of this Ishtar... perhaps it was the darkness around her that tempted her. She wouldn't know all too well... she debated if he was even the sort of equine that she wanted to know. Tatiana moved a bit through the thinner grass near a tree and let her limbs relax a moment as she reclined herself. She was only a few paces from Sun Chaser actually, but the thought of Ishtar was still lurking.
Could you- only if you're comfortable with it- tell me more about your brother? she whispered.
.Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.
no biggie. I'm trying to stall these two here for a while so if the plot is oked, it can still be done while Sun Chaser is here...

The moon dissapeared behind vast clouds of a looming, depressing grey, bringing with it all light bestowed upon the land beneath. Sun Chaser felt the air begin the chill, and the crickets begin to chirpl safe within the vast folds of the Silent Forest. It was rather unsettling, and not at all meant for the faint at heart. Though the Mountain seemed beautiful in the warm, generous glow of the sun; the moonlight revealed it for who it truly was - a devastating place.
It was very rare that Sun Chaser remained at the base after sunset, for it was not at all pleasant. Far from it. Tonight was no different, though he had company. The Mountain housed many different species and life-forms, though the cricket was Sun Chaser's favorite. If it weren't for them, the night would seem even more surpressing than it usually was.
It wasn't until Tatiana spoke once more that Sun Chaser was brought from his memories and ponderings. Her request was not unusual, though rather odd to be brought up this early in their meeting. However, the stud did not mind the least, and proceeded to explain..
"I do not mind the least. I beg your pardon for speaking so much about myself, however..
There really isn't much to say about Ishtar. He's not a simpleton like myself, and we both understand that fact. When we were young, he never was as playful as the other colts would have liked, though he was fast, clever, and ruthless. I suppose it was the last quality that drove him from proceeding the throne. However, when he left, a group of his closest friends went with him, and they formed a small alliance. However, when Ishtar attacked the Moutain three years later, they were all killed.
I can't quite honestly say that he won, for he destroyed most of the herd when he left, though he escaped in the end. It is said that he is building another army on the other side of the rogue lands.. Though that's only a rumor."
Guilty at having said so much, Sun Chaser paused at that, lowering his bodice to the earth, feeling the cool blades of grass welcome him. Though most equines rested standing, the night was rather surpressing and warm, and the earth seemed like a much better option..
(Lol, yup. I'm talking to Stormy about it. Maybe I'll have Sun Chaser leave, so Ishtar can come..)

.Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Tatiana turned on the listening auds to capture the epic that Sun Chaser laid before her. A story sewn into song, a melody of more than words. This was the present, the past, the future. It was family, it was enemy, it was the destiny of these lands. Two brothers, two sides, two different stand points. And then there were the followers like herself. Sun Chaser had for himself followers, she sensed their ever clear presence in the winds. But Ishtar?
Yes, as she listened Sun Chaser called it a rumor... but she couldn't help but sense that there was a disturbance moving in the alliance. Surely Ishtar had followers. Anytime power was present, there was an attractiong from others toward it. That was how most the the dark force was formed, a lust for power.
Tatiana shifted her pillars a moment in the blades and stared up at the murky sky. The stars were covered now by the blamest of the skye and the moon was a bare visibility. She shuddered a moment thinking of the river... how she used to live. When she was but a babe she was haunted with nightmares. Nightmares of a plagueing stag greater than her sire who would come by night and run the equines into the river never to be seen again. She could remember the clasp of thunder, the cold pitch and shrill screams about her as the water rose and rose, lapping down the bods that fell into it's iced touch.
Her dam always whispered, The night is all you make it to be. If you give into fear, fear it will become. Hold strong your heart and seek the good in all and even in the face of death itself you will not be misled. She hoped she was right. But those nightmares turned into a sad reality. The great flood. The thunder rolled in her memory and the sparks of lightning flew. About her, the waving blades seemed to become waves of water. She recalled the cold touch, the fear, the panic as the blind herd was lost in the pelting storm.
The drizzling rain fell hard on her and she slipped up in the mud as the mouth of the river expanded past it's boarder and fed off the lost. She saw her dam, rolling into the waves, afraid her babe was pulled in. She called to her dam, but not before her head was pulled beneath the water and the cold binded her.
She broke from her mind a moment, staring around her, realizing she had let the past slip into the present once more. He breath was harsh and sweat was lathered into her pelt as she stared up at Sun Chaser... perhaps he would only think that she was panicking over his story and wouldn't notice. Her pools were beads of fear and panic, but a moment later, she pushed it away. She would not bow to her weakness, it would have to kill her first.
It's a sad tale indeed... Tatiana whispered despite her ragging breath. And a brother should be a friend for life... here he has become an enemy. Do you believe he was destined for something more than this land? If since he was young he was so different by nature?
.Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.
[/sub] sure, if you want to take Sun Chaser out, that's fine by me. Whatever works for the plot

(Well, he's supposed to be occupied here, so Ishtar can go and take Stormy.. If it's OK with you, I'll make you read my horrible posts again and again ) (Oh, and a question.. How do you get your text spaced out? "sub" tags just makes my text blurry T-T) Sun Chaser paused in his speech to shudder at the night's chill. Tatiana's words had chilled him to the bone, something no equine had ever done. She had touched on the question that he had been asking himself for years - and then denying it and pushing it away from his thoughts. The answer he repeated to himself was,
"Of course he wasn't destined to be something different.. This land is our home - we pull our strength from this land, it's our blood.. Our life."
However, deep down inside, Sun Chaser knew he was being an ignorant fool again. Ishtar was gone now, lost in the dark pit he had fallen into on his quest for darkness. It simply wasn't fair. The stud had mulled over it for almost three years now, wasn't it time to move on?
Sun Chaser did not reply, but busied himself with simply staring at Tatiana for a moment, as if trying to see through her. He was no longer interested in speaking of his brother, and sought to change the subject.
"I do not know. And what of your history? Surely some family members must have survived?"

if you use the sub tags by themselves without the size tags, that should do the trick. And your posts aren't horrible, lol, we can stay content where while Ishtar takes Stormy.
.So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.
The breath of the fae quieted to a rustle with the spirits about her. Her questioning had finally struck it's final chord. She clenched her jaw a moment, hoping that she hadn't upset Sun Chaser so in her persistent tauntings of his brother. She herself hadn't any siblings, she was the last born in her small band. In her small space of 'happily ever afters' siblings were a sort of force that was unshakable even by the strongest army for they were a bond within themselves; whether they choose to use that for good or evil was up to them.
The tale of Ishtar and Sun Chaser was curious. Her mind ran over their names again and again... what was the meaning behind the name Ishtar? What was the story behind the beginnings of Sun Chaser? Such impossibilities she had to deal with in her mind and all because she tended to be a bit more curious than was safe to deal with.
Lanterns flickered upward at Sun Chaser as he drifted to her own weak speech, her past. And what of your history? Surely some family members must have survived? She wished she knew. Perhaps some did, but she spent two years searching for her home, searching for them in her vast travels... and here she ended up deciding at last to leave them to rest. For they, even if they were alive, had apparently given up home on their last babe for they had not sought her out yet either.
Perhaps some did survive... I would not know. I would hope some would but I did search and my efforts were laid in vain, like a grape shriveled in the sun without rain.
She bit her tongue catching herself using the ridiculous similies again, but she couldn't help it. It seemed so easy to paint a picture with the colors she had and she would continue doing so, for color was better to her than a simple grayscale.
And if they survived, word has not reached my harks of their quest for me. she whispered turning mug to the terrain. I was the youngest and last of the offspring. In a band as small as my own, foals were a rare thing. You'd think that I- oh never mind, I'm rambling again. I guess what I mean to say is that I will see them again, if not in this world then when I pass. I just hope that some survived as I by luck and the grace of fate did.
.It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.

(Ahh.. Thank you ^_^ I feel like such a noob, but you have to start somewhere ) Sun Chaser smiled, though it was not a gesture easily seen in the faint light. Though he was often described as rather ignorant, the stud knew when to stop in his questioning. Surely, the matter brought up painful differences, one that he would not pry into. Besides, he knew barely anything of the femme, except her past, a dubbance, and her appearance. Personality was not so easily judged as to be conferred through a single meeting.. Even if it was overnight.
He was often made up as a simpleton, too engrossed in being an idol of "good" than to see the world for what it truly was. Because of this, his brother (whom he believed to have simply been led astray) had stolen everything his ancestors had built. Maybe, it was time to stop being ignorant and fight back.
.Morals vs. Reality.
Once again, the same disrest settled upon Sun Chaser, and the stag instantly stood, gently shaking the summer grass off of his coat. He glanced towards the Mountain, bathing in it's majestic wind for a moment, before turning to Tatiana again, searching for something wise to say. Nothing came.
"Yes. We are nothing but ships at sea, driven by the winds of fate."
He continued,
"Do you feel a strange unrest, Tatiana?"

Tatiana took another sip of the night aire about her. Clean yet astranged. Something about it was quick and at quiver. Long she questioned much about the world, about herself. Never out of doubt or spite, but just of the aquiring strangeness. Somehow she was a set out neverland, never quite landing on the 'right side' yet she had all that was needed to live as the Herd outlined.
She turned her tiara in the direction of Sun's vocals. The darkness held them both fixed in the sphere of earthen time, but they remained near each other despite the wakening chill. Indeed there was something about this night aire that shook her within. It was like a warning, a dash that threatened to overtake... somehow... she worried a moment before pushing it away. A premonition? She could only wonder.
Fate knows where we lie, but only we can discover how. It's like a secret locked within your soul that you didn't know. Fate waits for the right time to let us know it's there. And only then do we discover that the key was within us all along and the secret, just another part of ourselves we failed to recognize before. she sang softly. Taking a breath, she stared toward Sun again, pools relaxing in the dark light and wandering over the outlined form of the steed. Aye, there is something about tonight... a disturbance I sense, but I don't know where. You feel it too?

(Lol, no it's not. Sorry I didn't reply, I didn't see this >->)
Sun Chaser simply nodded in reply, though the action could not be seen through the dark veil of the night. He glanced at Tatiana - or rather, at the outline of her slender form, and rose from his comfortable position close to the earth. He felt warm air instantly envelope him again, causing a rather uncomfortable sensation, and stuffy feeling.
Feeling rather dizzy, Sun Chaser took a step away from the cozy comfort of the tree and Tatiana, and glanced back towards the tip of the mountain.. One last time. He then glanced backwards at Tatiana, and a feeling overcame him - something he hadn't felt before. It was also one he couldn't place.
Yes.. But there's no use dwelling over what might be. What matters is the here and now..
He replied suddenly, remembering his own dam's motto for life. She had often repeated this phrase to him when he was young, and even when he had become King. Both she and his sire had died shortly after, after Ishtar's raid. Sun Chaser felt anger suddenly stirring within him, until he was fit to burst. It simply wasn't fair that the Miracle Herd, after having stood all these years, would be grounded to dust by someone who didn't know right from wrong.. Was he really that weak?

.Hope is a thing with feathers. .That perches in the soul.
At an instant, it took no more than a match to fuel, Tatiana felt a drumming somewhere. A strange fae, a weird one. So much she had seen fortelled about herself and had heard in the whispers. What sort of equine wanders alone? Who anymore speaks in riddles, such old fashion? Such a commoner, no high class or pride, a real... outcast. Yes, she was, and it boiled within her sometimes, but she kept the creature teathered. No one had seen her fury yet... not yet.
Breaking back into the sharp waves of reality, she heart Sun Chaser moving away. And the aire suddenly changed. No... not by his leaving... but a darkness now coming from not the mountain nor what lay beyond it to the west... but from the stag who paced so near of her. The instant broke and she was on her hocks, auds swiveling and moving back on her tiara. She felt it suddenly, a clench like a fist over her windpipe, not daring to release. A darkness... yes the darkness... and the estranged nature of her blood.
You are not weak. she breathed so low it was a mutter only to herself within her mind... she didn't know where the words came from but she sensed it was from the desceptioning darkness. The old ones used to say that evil is always strongest over it's greatest threats. Was that why it hung so low over Sun Chaser? The greatest threat... it all made sense.
Don't give into your anger, Sun Chaser, she suddenly said flatly. Not sharply, but it wasn't at all her voice. That's a dangerous path to tread. You see many do down it and never return... you know of one that whom I speak.
She remained silent for a moment, letting the songs sink in. Perhaps he would chase her away at this point. Her superstitous nature was there, her akward nature at hand, but her focus now was on Sun Chaser and what was blocking his mind and slowly closing in about him.
I wish to help, Sun Chaser, ask of me what and I shall. You see there are many on your side. Valuable allies and comrades. You needn't fear nor anger for you are among friends, friends and family. Your brother battles not with that, no, he has only puppets of his will. Some may consider themselves close to him, but you must understand this. When it all comes to be, the core of all will be revealed. You have made your friendships and allies with equines who share your heart of purity and love. Your brother has 'friends' based upon greed and malevolence. Which to you would withstand the winds and sands of time and be seen again the times to come?
Well, she had done it. Again with the ridiculous wisdom, but somehow, she felt as if it was all needed to be said. Peace settled again within her, but she was no longer drowsy. Her gaze was fixed steadily on the Sun Chaser, on his outline. His back was still to her as she watched him stare at Mountain Miracle and she made no further stiring. He could turn and smock her for her song. He could turn and leave. Whatever would come, she remained at stance. For the songs were not from her... but from anothers song she had heard so long ago.
.And sings a tune without words. .And never stops at all.
